Math
We use Saxon Math, a traditional, direct-instruction approach that emphasizes arithmetic and foundational skills. This “old-school” style ensures students master concepts before moving forward, providing a solid understanding of math that will last a lifetime.
Reading & Language Arts
• Pre-K through 2nd grade: We use UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Initiative), a direct phonics instruction program, to develop strong reading skills from the start. Students also participate in book studies to improve fluency and comprehension.
• Upper elementary and beyond: Students engage in novel studies to strengthen critical thinking, comprehension, and analytical skills. Our novel list is being finalized and will be shared soon.
History & Social Studies
History instruction is based on Story of the World, a narrative-driven approach that makes history engaging and memorable. We also align lessons with Florida State standards, ensuring students learn essential content such as maps, U.S. presidents, civics, and other required topics.
Science
Science is hands-on and exploratory. Students use Everything You Need to Ace Science in One Big Fat Notebook as a guide while also participating in experiments, projects, and other interactive learning experiences. Lessons are designed to cover all Florida State standards while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and practical application of scientific concepts.
Why Our Curriculum Works
• Structured, teacher-guided lessons combined with hands-on learning and independent work.
• Focus on mastery and fluency in core subjects.
• Curriculum choices are both rigorous and engaging, helping students build confidence while meeting state standards.
Note: The only curriculum families will need to purchase are the Saxon Math workbook (around $50) and the novels for upper-grade studies. All other materials, including the science notebook, are provided.
