We are currently reworking our history pages to bring you what we consider the best and most reasonable history of Isshinryu and Okinawan Karate and Kobudo development.
The history of Okinawan Martial Arts is very controversial and confusing. Much of this is because of the destruction of libraries and archives during the Second World War. With information we recently obtained from Okinawa and other expert sources, we are writing what we consider to be the most probable history.
The information on our site at present is taken from a manual that we have used for many years. We know that there are some errors in it. It has nevertheless helped our students to get started learning the history of Okinawan Karate. And we present it for your use until we finish our longer, more complete version.
